If it’s time to place your child in pre-school or a daycare there will be some homework that must be completed. Here are the most important safety tips for children that can be helpful when looking for a daycare or pre-school center.
1. Make sure that the program is reliable and whether the school has been the subject of any complaints in the past. It could be about parents, previous teachers, or caregivers. Also, you should know about the teachers who are currently in charge.
2. Discuss with other mothers about what they do with their kids. They’ll tell you whether they have had a good experience or not.
3. If you’re new to the neighborhood, you should visit the receptionist in your neighborhood’s pediatrician. They’re familiar with everybody! They have an eye on the community.
4. Find out about the school or the center’s hiring procedures and policies. Find out if they verify references of the applicant, run background checks, and check prior employment records before hiring.
5. Find out whether the school or center welcomes and encourages participation from parents.
6. Be sure that you have the authority to come in or visit at any point.
7. Be aware of every excursion or field trip. Don’t give the group general permission to let your child away from the premises.
8. Be sure the establishment will require you to sign a consent form to publish the photo of your child in local newspapers. It is O.K. If you aren’t sure whether to include your child’s photo on the paper for your child’s safety.
9. Make it a rule in writing to prohibit any release by your child’s details to anyone else without your express consent. Be sure that the program is aware of who will be picking your child up on any given day.
10. Find out what the policy on visitors or people who are not authorized to enter the facility. Are they in possession of any kind of security measures for when people who do not have custody or rights to be a parent, shows to the facility. What is their procedure? What is their procedure?
